FEW WORDS ON CAPTAIN VIKRAM BATRA AND HIS STORIES IN A WAR BOOK AND A MOVIE ON HIM

Currently reading 'Dateline Kargil' by Gaurav C Sawant. The book captures Kargil war. Reports, stories, facts written by the journalist in very manner what he saw, felt about tension of battlefield, pressure in army, lively soldiers - and lets reader goes through all those. A few days back, around Kargil Vijay Divas anniversary a movie released, Shershah - on  Capt. Vikram Batra. He and 13 JAK RIF is remembered for recapture of peak 5140, and peak 4875 form Pakistani forces.

I have already read chapters telling about these two tasks to recapture peaks (as I read only half till now), before watching the movie, starring Siddharth Malhotra as Capt. Vikram Batra, it can be said that movie is made after research - details mentioned near accurately. Even one can find a character portraying Gaurav Sawant with two fellow journalists (the three who were permitted to capture war in early days). I felt as if scriptwriter consulted Gaurav or read his book on war. sure army and family must have been consulted. The popular legends of the captain also been taken care of - his relationship, friends fellow soldiers.

Portrayal of  Lt. Col (now Lt. Gen.) Y K Joshi, reminded me of his account in the book. operational details were also picturised. sure filmmakers made it interesting to watch - but nothing I felt exaggeration. Intimacy part could be avoided (for sake of respect). Overall It is a good movie.

It is good that filmmakers dedicated the movie to Kargil martyrs.
