Bangalore Post 3: Banshankari Temple

On Friday 24th Feb, Visited Banshankari Temple, with friends. On an occasion or two, I have passed by Banashankari while travelling by bus, and thought to visit the temple sometime.

We boarded bus 600 at Jaydeva. It was about 10 minutes ride to Banshankari bus stand. I got to know that goddess Banshankari likes lemons and shradhalus offer lemons. Diyas made out of lemon's outer layering (lemons cut into halves and turned inside out). Outside Temple premises puja bhandar hawkers were selling puja samagris, flowers and lemons on carts.

Our conversations were going trilingual Hindi, Kannada, English. - at times one or other struggles to understand Kannada conversations (that was me, catching one or two common words from Sanskrit in between) or Hindi conversations. For common conversations we used English. :D

I asked them to see for me, for I get lost here, being non-localite. :)

Inside premises, lot of shradhalus gathered for darshan.

Along with main deity - Mata Banshankari, there were temples of Ganesha, Shiva, Hanuman. We took prasad at places. We ate at pangat - rice, dal, curd.

After Darshan, Prasad and Selfies we sat in temple courtyard. Our trilingual conversations, jokes, career talks, family continued.

It was an afternoon at temple.

We boarded bus 600 for return journey.

Later we were laughing over song "Naguva Nayana, Madhura Mouna".

Banshankari Day 2:   03rd March 2023

After a week, on Friday, it was proposed to visit somewhere. We had option of Sai temple (as I heard and till now not aware of its location), Raghavendra swamy temple and other places. After class, it was decided that it would be convenient to visit Banshankari Temple again. On our second trip there, Roja accompanied us. I was so busy in talking that I forgot to ask final decision, and only got to know about venue at bus stop. :)

Since that was our second visit, it was decided to offer diyas to deity. We followed our 'group -ritual' i.e.  darshan, prasadam, selfie. :D,. Also we ate in pangat (as I say it, don't know what is term for that in Kannada). We sat for sometime in temple complex.

We then headed to our PG/home from there by boarding metro, buses and auto for last leg of journey.

That's how 2nd visit to Banshankari Temple was.
